Managing Change Concepts

Dealing with change start by looking at your environment before examining your internal leadership style. The concept of situational leadership suggests that "ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL". Lead­ership that took into account are the interactions between the TASK, the LEADER, and relationships with FOLLOWERS. 
It is commonly thought today that enlightened leaders are PARTICIPATIVE, ENCOURAGING, and focused on the DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR PEOPLE. However, there may well be circumstances where that set of leadership practices would not be the most appropriate. 
For example, of a com­pany in crisis where there is an urgent need for change and a strong organisational culture in place that resists change. Certainly, to be effective in this situation, at least in the short term, you would need to employ a more COMMAND- AND-CONTROL LEADERSHIP STYLE than a developmental one.
